Shinkiari is a town 25km north of Mansehra on Karakuram Highway. It is famous for cultivating the first tea garden in Pakistan because of its natural environment and terrain.^{[citation needed]}

Shinkiari is also a base for the Pakistan Army and a major stop for people traveling north.
