"Shining Star" is a song by Earth, Wind & Fire from their album and film That's the Way of the World.
This song is not only Earth, Wind & Fire's first major hit, but it is also their only song to hit #1 on both the U.S. Hot 100 and the U.S. R&B/Hip-Hop. The song is considered a prime example of funk music that has attained mainstream success.
"Shining Star" also was a hit of The Manhattans in 1982.
