[edit] Character History

Rather than a single person, Shim'Tar is the title of the interchangeable chief warrior of the Bana-Mighdall Amazons, similar to how the title of Wonder Woman is classified as the chief warrior of the Themyscirian Amazons. The title of Shim'Tar is chosen through the Tournament of the Crown, a rite of combat.

[edit] Original Shim'Tar

Diana's initial contact with the first Shim'tar occurred when her Lasso of Truth was stolen by The Cheetah and she had to go to Egypt to search for it. There, she found a lost tribe of Amazons, apparently descendants to her aunt Antiope. When a dissident named Faruka murdered Queen Nehebka, she chose a powerful unnamed Amazon in Shim'Tar garb to fight for her. Diana barely managed to defeat her after being severely battered. She discovered that the Shim'Tar warrior gained her enormous power by wearing the Golden Girdle of Gaea. This Shim'Tar disappeared when Bana-Mighdal was attacked by the Egyptian military and Hermes.

[edit] Queen Hippolyta

During the War of the Gods, Circe put a spell on Queen Hippolyta and dressed her in the armor of the first Shim'Tar so Diana and her would fight and, eventually, kill each other. When her trick was discovered, the war ended and the Egyptian Amazons were allowed to live in the far side of the island.

[edit] Akila and Artemis

Eventually a young amazon named Akila, who had been sent to the University of Oxford in Patriarch's world by Queen Hippolyta for education, assumed the role of the new Shim'Tar. She had become an engineer and so, she redesigned her armor using a combination of technology and magic. When the gorilla Queen Abu-Gita and her hordes tried to invade Paradise Island, Akila helped Diana and Artemis. After being hurt in the civil war between both Amazon tribes she gave title and armor to Artemis.
