Sherman Oaks Center for Enriched Studies (also Sherman Oaks CES or SOCES) is a (magnet) public school in the San Fernando Valley, Southern California, United States. Despite the name, SOCES is located in Reseda in Los Angeles, California on the former campus of Sequoia Middle School. (Prior to 1980, the campus was located at the site of present-day Sherman Oaks Elementary School). The school is a part of the Los Angeles Unified School District.
SOCES is a California Distinguished School at which students can stay from 4th through 12th grade.
For many years, there was a large Sequoia log out in front of the school bearing the name of the school. After repeated vandalism (spray paint, chunks of the log stolen), it was finally replaced with a small stone sign. The charging knight is the school's mascot.
SOCES has an increasing number of successful sports teams, a Speech and Debate team, a highly successful Science Bowl program, and promising music and drama programs. In 2007 boys' soccer won the first Small Schools City Title at the City Section Championships.
The current principal of SOCES is Robert Weinberg.
