Sheopur is a city in Madhya Pradesh state of central India. It is the administrative headquarters of Sheopur District. Sheopur is linked by rail to Gwalior. The town is traditionally famous for its wood carving.

As of 2001 India census^GRIndia, Sheopur had a population of 55,026. Males constitute 53% of the population and females 47%. Sheopur has an average literacy rate of 57%, lower than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 66%, and female literacy is 46%. In Sheopur, 17% of the population is under 6 years of age.
