Shenley Brook End School has the aim to "Improve the quality of Teaching and Learning." [2] To achieve their aim Shenley seek to be an aspiring school by working hard, providing appropriate curriculum and encouraging high expectations. The school also aims to be a "sharing" school and a "caring" school.

The school finishes at 3:30 pm but students can remain behind until 4:30 pm. Sixth form students in year 12 have recreational studies on a Wednesday afternoon and are allowed to leave at 2:40 pm. Sixth form students are also permited a number of their study periods (periods in which they do not have scheduled lessons) in which they are allowed to leave the site.

[edit] Teaching

Shenley Brook End School provides teaching to students between ages 11 and 16 (years 7 - 11) and there is also a 6th form college providing A level qualifications for students between 16 and 18. The teaching staff at the school are backed up by a group of well trained and motivated Teaching Assistants who assist the teachers in the teaching of S.E.N pupils. These include pupils with learning difficulties or behavioural problems - sometimes caused by medical issues such as ADHD or other more emotional problems.

[edit] A specialist school

Previously Shenley Brook End School was known as a sporting school and was proud of its success in teaching in this field. In September 2004, the Department for Education and Skills (DfES) designated the school as a specialist Mathematics and Computing College.[3]
