Shellycoat

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In Scottish mythology, a shellycoat is a type of bogeyman which haunts rivers and streams. The name is derived from the coat of shells these creatures are said to wear, which rattle upon movement. Shellycoats are considered to be relatively harmless; playfully misleading wanderers, but without malice.[1]
