Shekosh (woreda)

Shekosh is one of the 47 woredas in the Somali Region of Ethiopia. Part of the Korahe Zone, Shekosh is bordered on the south by Kebri Dar, on the north by the Degehabur Zone, and on the east by the Werder Zone. The major town in Shekosh is Shekosh.

This woreda is primarily inhabited by the Darod clan of the Somali people.

Based on figures published by the Central Statistical Agency in 2005, this woreda has an estimated total population of 31,338, of whom 17,544 were males and 13,794 were females; 18.05% or Shekosh of its population are urban dwellers, which is less than the Zone average of 18.2%. Information is not available on the area of Shekosh, so its density cannot be calculated.[1]
