Shekomeko, New York

Shekomeko is a historic hamlet in the southwest part of the town of North East, New York, United States. Location is 41°55'41"N 73°35'58"W , by the County Route 83.

It was named after a Shekomeko village of the Mahican people by the Shekomeko Creek, where the hamlet of Bethel, Pine Plains, New York is located now. In 1740 a mission of Moravians was established at Shekomeko village. [1]
