Sheikh Badr

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Shaykh Badr (Arabic: شيخ بدر‎) was an Arab settlement on a mountaintop west of Jerusalem in Palestine that came under the Jerusalem municipality during the British Mandate of Palestine. It was abandoned when it was captured by Jewish forces during the 1948 Arab-Israeli war. A cemetery was temporarily opened during the war for Jewish burial. Under Israeli rule, the residential area was cleared, and the Knesset building was built on the site.
