Sheffield Ski Village
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Sheffield Ski Village is an artificial ski slope resort in Sheffield, England. It is the largest artificial ski resort in Europe [1] with a large range of slopes and bars.
[edit] Future Development
An £80 million development, which has been given the go ahead by the planning department, will also add one of the world's largest indoor ski areas and a mile-long cable car link from Langsett Road Supertram stop[1]. This will continue, via the Ski Village onto Shirecliffe.[2], and area currently suffering poor transport links. However the future of this development, and the entire Ski Village, is under threat following the placement of the Ski Village on the market[3]
A proposal by Don Valley Railway ltd. to run a passenger rail service between Deepcar and Sheffield includes a new station at the Ski Village, possibly to link into the gondola cars.
