Shebedino

Shebedino is one of the 77 woredas in the Southern Nations, Nationalities and Peoples' Region of Ethiopia. Part of the Sidama Zone located in the Great Rift Valley, Shebedino is bordered on the south by Dale, on the west by the Bilate River which separates it from the Semien Omo Zone, on the northwest by the Oromia Region, on the north by Awasa, and on the southeast by Arbegona. Towns in Shebedino include Derba and Leku.

This woreda covers part of the homeland of the Sidama people.

Based on figures published by the Central Statistical Agency in 2005, this woreda has an estimated total population of 597,313, of whom 293,774 were males and 303,539 were females; 19,329 or 3.24% of its population are urban dwellers, which is less than the Zone average of 8.9%. With an estimated area of 1,035.47 square kilometers, Shebedino has an estimated population density of 576.9 people per square kilometer, which is greater than the Zone average of 430.03.[1]
