[edit] RE: 67.189.5.57 (talk contribs) Vandalism edit war with article Blue Öyster Cult

This person has been pranking the BOC article since 24 June. I would like to ask that you to block this IP for the same length of time, 14-days. There are days when he doesn't prank, but then comes back. Thank you. WikiDon 7 July 2005 21:58 (UTC)

  • Guess who's back? Just vandy'd BOC again. WikiDon 03:02, 8 August 2005 (UTC)
    • Going to block him again? WikiDon 22:50, 14 August 2005 (UTC)
      • If he continues. Though we try not to block IP's for weeks at a time unless it's really serious, and this kid doesn't seem to be doing his prank edit that often to make it worth it. It's easy to revert. But I'm watching the article. Shanes 23:01, 14 August 2005 (UTC)

[edit] 139.55.53.68

I saw you reverted vandalism by 139.55.53.68 at George W. Bush. I believe this is the same vandal I and several other users fought yesterday. I wanted to give you a word of advice: be carful of what you revert, yesterday he almost got me blocked for 3RR because he picked up on an existing edit war and tricked me into reverting edit war content believing it was vandalism. Just thought I should give you a heads up. -- Essjay · Talk 15:38, July 10, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Oops

Hey, I think I may have just botched trying to fix a vandal moving Dick Cheney to Dick Hitler. Sorry about that. How do we revert a move vandal? —Sean κ. + 18:15, 10 July 2005 (UTC)

[edit] User:216.76.220.192

(Except for an (accidental?) talk-page blanking, I don't see any recent vandalism here. Your polite warning for the blanking should do for now.)

Thats ok by me, right now. I kind of feel bad, as I was the one that requested the page be unblocked today, as I fealt users may want to add to it. Of course, the same day, same user blanks the talk page. I just hope it doesnt become a revert war again, its sad to have to block pages, or users for that matter. Thanks. <>Who?¿? 03:52, 12 July 2005 (UTC)

Honestly, I actually loathe the idea of range blocking, the idea that it may and will block legitimate users from accessing Wiki, bothers me. I have no personal interest in the article, I have worked on it and made proposals for its change, but not necessarily invested in it. I do think its silly to blank a page, continously, and a talk page really isn't worth a war. It was really my first chance to actually , attempt ;) to make a difference by reporting constant vandalism, I just hope that my note, rather than the {{test4}} note, convinces them to stop. Thanks for replying. <>Who?¿? 04:26, 12 July 2005 (UTC)
Hmmm, aren't we going abit over board here? I mean, blocking 3x256 IP's from editing the wikipedia for 100 days because the Ashley twins talk-page is being blanked once a week? I can't possibly know the whole story here. Shanes 04:27, 12 July 2005 (UTC)
Hi again, I think you left the message on my page by accident, or you just wanted a duplicate copy. I am not an admin, so I couldn't block someone, the original discussion is here. Thanks. <>Who?¿? 04:32, 12 July 2005 (UTC)
I know, I just continued on the thread since it hapend to be on your page. Anyway, if User:Jnc thinks the blocks are in order, I'm not going to bother arguing about it. And I guess it solves the Ashley talk page-problem for now. Shanes 04:49, 12 July 2005 (UTC)

[edit] I am unconvinced.

[edit] Wikipedia error message on save

Hi, when you get the error message when trying to save an edit, sometimes the page was in fact saved. If you just hit "save page" again in those cases, not only does it create a whole bunch of extra entries in the history, but each copy takes another chunk of disk space. If you instead hit the "back" button on your browser (back from the error message, that is), and then click on "Page history", you can see if your edit was actually saved or not; if it was, you can avoid doing another save. Thanks... Noel (talk) 19:16, 24 July 2005 (UTC)

Oh, sorry. That's pretty slow (I usually give up when it gets that bad, and go work on a new article offline). Noel (talk) 19:29, 24 July 2005 (UTC)

I, Flcelloguy, do hereby present this Barnstar of Reversion to Shanes for his tireless work in deleting non-sensical pages and for his effort in reverting vandalism.

Hello, Shanes! I've been meaning to give you this barnstar for quite a while now- I've noticed that you're pretty much everywhere- whenever I do new pages RC patrol, half the time it's you on the deletion log deleting pages that were tagged with {{delete}} , and I've seen you do lots of vandalism reversion and blocking of vandals. So here you go! Keep up your great work. Flcelloguy | A note? | Desk 20:27, 24 July 2005 (UTC)

Thanks! My first Barnstar! I'm proud and happy ;-). And thank you so much for your kind words. Shanes 20:34, 24 July 2005 (UTC)

All hail the monkey-reverter! Damn you're fast. for once, the vandalized article was on the very top of my watch list, and you still beat me to the punch! I echo Flcelloguy's kudo. - UtherSRG (talk) 12:53, 15 September 2005 (UTC)

Thanks. It's on my watch list as well (one of the many vandal-prone pages I have there), so I occasionally catch the monkey vandalism quite early. Shanes 13:58, 15 September 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks!

Thanks for your opinions on my WW2 image! I am currently considering your latest suggestions on the subject. Something other: Since you seem to be an experienced wikipedian, and myself a newcomer, I'd like to ask you if there are any means for more immediate discussions, that is, a wikipedia chat, or something? If not, are there any other means that wikipedians tend to use, like irc, or? Thankful for answers on my talk page. Regards, Dna-Dennis 00:29, 27 July 2005 (UTC).

Thanks again, for your help & quick answer! Dna-Dennis 15:50, 27 July 2005 (UTC)

[edit] I like your policy

I like your being kind to new users policy. Being a new user myself, I have encounered niceness from some users, and appreciate it. Just thought I should let you know that I wish there were more users like you. Banes 16:12, 27 July 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Really

You don't need to warn them. The warning in the article, as far as I'm concerned, is sufficient. It'll make the history a lot cleaner if you block them, THEN roll back. But whichever works for you. You can be good cop if you want. :) --Golbez 20:37, July 27, 2005 (UTC)

Thanks for the quick reply. Quoting from blocking policy: "there are various rules of thumb by which sysops decide how far to extend the blocks of habitual vandals, none of which is formal policy. In general, casual vandals should be warned twice before being blocked, though warnings are not usually given for deliberate vandalism intended to discredit Wikipedia or serve an activist agenda." Redirecting GWB to Hitler, or indeed any vandalism of GWB, is attempting to discretig Wikipedia or serve their activist agenda, if only to get some laughs out of it. Also, none of this is formal policy. Wikipedia:Ignore all rules. I'll keep this up til someone who matters complains. It's required to, to quote GWB, maintain our way of life. I'd rather ban fifty anons on sight than protect that article. They've been warned once by the mere virtue of clicking edit. They don't need a second warning. --Golbez 20:47, July 27, 2005 (UTC)
Thing is, I'm treating this as a short-term thing. I can't sit staring at GWB's history page all day long. I've done this before only once, with Columbine High School massacre, and that only lasted a short while, if I did it at all, I don't even recall. My point is, drastic times call for drastic measures. Better to remove the undesirable elements than remove that which makes us great. I'll keep this up for a couple more hours and let's see if vandalism falls off. --Golbez 21:05, July 27, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Marayoor - Peer review

Dear Shanes, Thank you for your post in peer review page, I really appreciate it. Marayoor is a famous place inside Kerala but outside, Munnar is known as the famous tourist spot. [edit] Ragdoll page

I was wondering if you wouldn't mind lending your expertise to the "Ragdoll" page. The page is currently dedicated to the Ragdoll cat, but there is apparently a computer program by the same name that really needs its own page but is just clumsily put at the end of the page. I think a new stub/article for the program needs to be created, but with the same name, I don't know how that should be done. Also, I think there needs to be a disamb link, but I have no clue as how to do that. Could you help us out there or give us your opinion on how to properly split up the pages. Thank you in advance.Gator1 21:02, September 1, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Betta/Siamese Fighting Fish pages

Hey it's me again. The Betta and Siamese Fighting Fish pages are virtually identical and I think need to be merged. I've created a new page called Betta (Siamese Fighting Fish) and have called upon both articles to let me know if they want to merge. Hi Shanes! You and I had a discussion on the general template for WWII, Template:World War II. Partly due to your positiveness I have now created a similar template for WWI, Template:World War I.

And what?? You don't like the picture? Shanes 00:46, 10 September 2005 (UTC)
No; but I think it's the guy who deleted the article.
207.214.244.139 08:04, 10 September 2005 (UTC)
Still having problems with this picture; I assume "mprotected" means "main page, protected".
Did you type that in yourself, or did you cut-and-paste/copy-and-paste it? Because if your fonts/computer had been set up with oriental fonts/characters, the computer(s) may read the characters differently. Ideosyncracies such as italics and certain letters such as the lower case "el" (l) are not actually "seen" by the computer/computer program if you were using an oriental font, or if it was originally programed using oriental fonts, you might run into that problem the same way. Etc.
WB2 23:39, 10 September 2005 (UTC)
Yes, it means main page protected, and is a tag we add to all images we protect while on the main page. I have done it many times before and I did it on the selected anniversaries image at the same time without seing any problems there. But I did see the same missing image problem on the Mubarak image on the main page, and someone else protected and taged that one. But I honestly don't see how an image description tag should matter anyway. It's the thumbnail versions of the images that are having problems, and those are automaticle created by the wikisoftware and shouldn't care about any tags in the image description file. And, no, I don't use any oriental fonts. I am from Norway, and use standard western fonts. Shanes 00:11, 11 September 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Xenu space plane.jpg

This image is showing up on the Main page but not on the Article page. Anything to do with its being protected? hydnjo talk 02:36, 10 September 2005 (UTC)

Nevermind, fixed problem. hydnjo talk 02:54, 10 September 2005 (UTC)
Or so I thought! hydnjo talk 03:25, 10 September 2005 (UTC)
I don't think the protection has anything to do with it. Not sure, but it looks like a cache problem on some of the wikipedia-servers. If I try loading the thumb url http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/7/73/Xenu_space_plane.jpg/300px-Xenu_space_plane.jpg I sometimes get the image, and sometimes a 404, file not found. The serverlogs would probably give some clues, for those who have access to them. I don't, and I don't know the finer workings of the mediawiki-software, either. But hopefully it will be fixed soon. I see the thumb on the main page has the same problem now and then as well, and that various people are trying to figure it out. Shanes 03:54, 10 September 2005 (UTC)
I made a reversion back and forth of the image, to see if it made the caches be purged. Looks to load ok now for me, but it could be just a fluke and not really be fixed. Either way, I'm leaving it at this. Shanes 04:05, 10 September 2005 (UTC)
Raul thinks its image server problem and that we should back off and let the devs handle it. hydnjo talk 04:16, 10 September 2005 (UTC)
Yeah, this is for the devs to figure out. Shanes 04:23, 10 September 2005 (UTC)
Which "dev" are you speaking of? WB2 23:45, 10 September 2005 (UTC)
The wikimedia developers. Shanes 00:16, 11 September 2005 (UTC)

He vandalized Science yesterday. Evolver 22:52, 11 September 2005 (UTC)
I know. I was the one reverting him 2 minutes later. Then I asked him to not do that anymore, and he stopped. So there's no reason to block him unless he should continue. We don't block people to punish them, we block people as a last resort to make them stop vandalising. If he isn't vandalising any more, a block is not needed. Shanes 23:08, 11 September 2005 (UTC)

[edit] The names of the Seven Dwarves in Norwegian

Hi Shane

I have been trying for some time to put together a kind of "Rosetta Stone" of the modern age - a table of the names of the Seven Dwarves in as many different languages as possible - in order to demonstrate ... the similarities/differences of national culture on a commonly known, and much loved, culturally "neutral" matrix...

and since I came across your interesting contribution to the debate on dubbing v. subtitles, in which you mentioned the scandinavian language "original" names of the "Magnificent 7"... I thought to contact you...

So: I wonder whether you could help me complie that list? especially in your native Norwegian, and who knows? perhaps in Swedish a/o Danish as well..

BTW, I think the names cannot be traditional, since the Walt Disney studio chose their seven from a pool of about 50...

I would be very grateful to you for your help, and I would love to link my table to Wiki in order to get loads of further international contributions...

Many thanks!

Shane:

I know you're busy but I was hoping to get your great help again. I am dealing with an anon user on the Cutco page who insists on a NPOV tag when no one is stopping him/her from making edits (just as long as they're cited) and no one is discussing anythign (there just isn't a problem). I think the user just didn't like my one revert and is retaliating for not getting his/her way the first time around. I've laready bene accused of being a Cutco salesperson! LOL Could you take a look at the talk page and let me know if I'm the wrongone and how you would handle this situation? Anything you can add to the discussion would also be helpful. I just can't figure out what this person's deal is and I don't think that he/she is using the tag properly and want to take it off. Thanks for your help.Gator1 14:33, 21 September 2005 (UTC)

I respect your decision, but he only edits a little bit every day and then comes back every 24 hours, so he'll be back 24 hours from his last edit and make more threats. I will respect your decision, but just wanted you to know that.Gator1 14:47, 22 September 2005 (UTC)

I think he knows that what he said was over the line, and as long as he doesn't continue making personal attacks, I'd like to leave it at this and not elevate it further. I sense that he feels he's being unfairly treated and just needed to blow off some steam. The attacks on you were unacceptable, but it would be nice if you could just try being the bigger man and ignore it for now. But if he comes back flaming and won't stop, let me know. Since when does an article need to have a "direct" connection (whatever that is) between the title and an image? But since you question the relevance: The article very clearly mentions and describes the Greenhouse Hitler had built to keep him with vegetables and fruits during the war. This is that greenhouse. So it's an image ilustrating a passage in the article. And an excellent image at that. Shanes 10:58, 25 September 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Attack on Pearl Harbor

See page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Attack_on_Pearl_Harbor

I am relatively new to Wikipedia (2 months) and am pretty impressed with it. The above page has a good bit of vandalism on it and I saw your name listed as one who had reverted it to a cleaner earlier version. I don't know how to do that, so I wanted to know if you would do it. Also, someone needs to report the vandal, but I could not figure out who the person was.

I am surprised that it is so easy for anyone to edit any page. I would think that there would be some level of security, sysop, gatekeeper to prevent instant vandalism of its pages.

Contact me at mbennett3@gmail.com if you can. I would edit the page if I felt more comfortable with how to do it all. I hope I will in time.

Thanks, Martin

[edit] Greetings from Brooklyn NY

Hi Shanes:

Thanks for taking the time to review my postings on the WW2 casualties page. I am reluctant to post to the main page on WW2 casualties due to the fact that copyrighted material has posted there without any reference to its source. The tables of equipment and naval losses were copied from " World War II - A statistical survey-" by John Ellis.

My intention in posting to the discussion page was to stimulate a dialogue on the topic of WW2 losses with other Wikipedians.

In any case my skills using the Wikipedian web page software are rather limited. I really need to sit down and spend the time to learn how to edit a page properly on this software.

Best Wishes,

Shanes The Russian sources that I have cited detail Soviet war losses that I have listed. The key point that needs be understood is that 3.3 million Soviet war dead were from the territories annexed in 1939-40 and 1.7 million were victims of Stalinist repression which was in process before the war. I you choose to list 28.0 million Soviet war dead then you must eliminate the Baltic states from the list, reduce Polish losses to 3.0 million and Romaninan losses to 480,000. The Russian publication which I have listed Ludskie Poterie which was published by the Russian Academy of Science in 1995 makes it quite clear that Soviet losses will vary depending on ones assumptions regarding the beginning population in 1939 and the population of the annexed terrirories included in the population base. I hope this clarifies this matter. I have pressing demands at work, the owner who pays my salary wants to see some numbers tomorrow.

Best Wishes Barney Dombrowski--Berndd11222 02:17, 26 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Soviet losses

Shanes

I would like to send you a small Excel spreadsheet that reconcils Soviet losses, the Wikipedia format is not good with numbers. You asked me to be bold and I was! I will be very busy for the next three days finishing the September financial statement for my boss.

Hi Shannes: I posted four schedules to the discussion page. I welcome your comments and suggestions. This Wikipedian langauge reminds me of Basic that I used 25 years ago. I need to fine tune my Wikipedian editing skills. Bed time.

[edit] WW 2 Losses

Hi Shanes:

Tomorrow need to clean up the work I did with regard to the sources I cited to include the ISBN Nrs. I will follow the Wiki style this time. Also I need to pull the Austrian population and civilian losses out of Germany and give Austria a seperate line. My transliteration of the Russian titles does not agree with the library, that will be updated. Would it be acceptable to use Cyrillic instead of Roman letters when citing a Russian source? My dilemma is that I repeat sources that take up so much space. In any case I have Tae Kwan Do excercise this evening and will not be abel to do this until tomorrow.

[edit] Voluntary Wikipedia Questionnaire

My name is Oliver Metz. I am a student at Brent International School, Manila, an International school located in the Philippines. I am doing my last year of school (12th Grade) and I am writing a research paper (about 4000 words) on Wikipedia in ITGS (Information Technology in a Global Society). Of 10 randomly picked people you have been chosen as one. If you are willing and have the time to answer a few questions I would be grateful if you could fill out a short questionnaire of 6 questions.

Some Information about my essay:

My essay topic is about the freedom to collaborate and the usage of the Internet as a tool to do so. I will analyze topics such as Altruism versus Egoism as well as the Product Wikipedia itself.

My Thesis Statement: The Internet is not only a medium for communication, information and marketing but also a place for altruism, collaboration and cooperation. Wikipedia is the product of a voluntary collaborative effort that defies commonly held beliefs about human nature.

If you have any further questions or requests you would like to pose before filling out the questionnaire I'd gladly answer them.

you can write to: taklung@gmx.net (I check this e-mail address regularly)

Questionnaire:

Please answer the following questions by either inserting the answers or sending them to me via e-mail. (*are not necessarily required).

Name*: Age*: Nationality*:

1. How long have you been contributing to Wikipedia?

2. Have you or are you planning to donate money to the Wikipedia cause?

3. When you first heard of Wikipedia and the concepts it is based on, what did you think about it and did you believe it could work? What do you think now?

4. Why do you think people contribute to Wikipedia? With it being voluntary what interests do/did you follow when contributing to Wikipedia?

5. Do you think that Wikipedia appeals to Altruism? If yes, do you think such a thing can exist in our society in which greed and consumption apparently drive the world?

6. What do you think makes Wikipedia most beneficial to society?

Further comments*:

With kind regards,

Oliver Metz

Seemed to stop after I warned him. Can't see he's made any edits after that. But if he comes back vandalising a block is in order. Shanes 06:51, 31 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Asian data WW2 Casualties

Shanes:

I would like to have the Asian data checked by fellow Wikipedians who have knowledge of Asian languages. What would be the best way to contact them? I would feel more comfortable with the John Dower references if I had a second opinion from the folks in the Far East.

[edit] john stalker

evidently you don't think the legend that it the MIGHTY JOHN STALKER deserves a page. Shame on you. Boo hiss boo.

82.5.223.13 15:24, 7 November 2005 (UTC)

He might deserve a page if you write a more serious one. Explaining what makes him notable etc. Shanes 15:58, 7 November 2005 (UTC)

I caught the page on the Recent Changes page and made it into something better. I agree that a page consisting of "John Stalker is a ledge" isn't any good (I'm guessing 82.5.223.13 recreated the page and it was deleted before, but I didn't see anything saying deleted edits :o) . Blightsoot 14:02, 20 November 2005 (UTC)

Nice save! The one I deleted back then was John stalker (no capital S), that's why you didn't see any deleted versions in the history. It had basicly the same content as the one you re-wrote into this nice stub. Shanes 14:34, 20 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] 3 rvt

BCE is flat out confusing can I at least, add in brackets (BC) and (AD) so people will understand what is being said. Then both sides will have something they want...?

As for the 3 rvts I've heard of it, and don't intend to cause problems. I enjoy wikipedia, don't want to be blocked, and have contributed more than I have taken. So if you ask me each should be entitled to his own faults and thoughts so long as he is clearly not trying to Vandalise the articles and is doing it in good faith, with the goal of futher wikipedia. [edit] I would like your opinion

Hi again, Shanes! I would really like your opinion on a matter (not because I've talked to you, but because I know your concern over article scope & organization). If you feel you have time and interest, please see Talk:List of military engagements of World War II (section "Article Size" and "Contents of this article") where I have had a discussion with another wikipedian concerning that article's scope vs. organization. I'd really appreciate your sincere opinion on the matter. Regards, Dennis Nilsson. Dna-Dennis 13:30, 24 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Vandal explanation

I recently made a change to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Seigenthaler in order to prove to a friend that Wikipedia is less suseptable to corruption than he thinks. Thanks for helping me prove him wrong. Keep up the good work. ;) —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 216.94.116.242 (talkcontribs).

[edit] BC AD 2

Before when I reverted that article you told me that wiki policy was that whatever dating system the creator of that article couldn't be changed...can you show me a document stating such? Chooserr

I don't think it's explicitly stated anywhere, and it's not even a rule for all articles. But it's quite like the use of British or American English. In some articles, depending on the subject, one way is prefered over the other, independent of what version was used first. For instance in articles on Budhism, I believe it's prefered to use BCE/CE notation. But in articles where both versions are fine (most of them), sticking with the version used to begin with in an article is a good rule of thumb, just to avoid edit-waring over it. The BC/BCE thing is a controversial issue and people disagree, but edit-waring is just disruptive. Just leave the articles as they are on this issue, and don't make BC/BCE changes (except to fix inconsistancy within a single article). Shanes 19:57, 3 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks for reverting the edits to my user page

Heh, well it's written in really bad Norwegian. Definitely not by a fluent speaker of the language. But, anyway, it translates to: "I don't think I've ever had a friend like you". Shanes 23:12, 15 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Aetius dab

I see you removed the dab notice from the heading of several Aetius articles. I don't think this is a good idea. Though the titles are indeed unambiguous, the problem is that all of these historical figures are often referred to simply as "Aetius", so it is easy to accidentally refer to the wrong article, especially if you've found the Wikipedia page from a general Web search engine. In fact, when I wrote several of these articles, it was because I was trying to track down a citation to "Aetius" which was unclear as to which one. Though the general is the usual referent of "Aetius", in this case it turned out to be a different Aetius, of whom I was not even aware. Therefore, I think it would be wise to keep the dab notices. --Macrakis 20:59, 17 December 2005 (UTC)

But Aetius is already a dab-page. So anyone searching or linking to just Aetius will see that there are several persons with that name. Which is the point of dab-pages. There are countless examples of this, e.g. we have a dab-page on Bush, but we don't list dabs in the George W. Bush article since the one on Bush is sufficient. If Aetius had redirected to one of the articles, then a dab-note would have been needed (but just as a single pointer to the general dab-page on that name). But it isn't, so I don't see any need for it here or anywhere else where an article title is clearly unambiguous. Shanes 21:12, 17 December 2005 (UTC)
I do understand that Aetius is a dab-page, so it is 'safe' in the sense that if you are already within the WP, a link to Aetius or a GO to Aetius will get you to the dab page, which is fine. However, if you do a search on Google or Yahoo or whatever, it is perfectly possible that you will end up on the wrong Aetius page, and it will not at all be obvious that there exist others, since you may have encountered the name without any additional information. All three or four of these Aetius characters are routinely referred to by the bare name "Aetius" -- indeed, in several encyclopedias, they appear as successive articles, all with the same headword "Aetius". In a print encyclopedia, that is good enough to let the user know that there might be an issue. In the WP, you do not see the alphabetically adjacent articles, so you may easily think that Aetius is unambiguous.
The George W. Bush article is actually an interesting comparison. There is certainly possible confusion between the two U.S. Presidents George Bush. And that is a good reason for the George W. article to mention the George H.W. article near the top -- which in fact it does, just like the John Adams and John Quincy Adams articles. But in the case of Aetius, there is no mention of the other Aetiuses except in the dab notice. --Macrakis 21:27, 17 December 2005 (UTC)
Ok. I don't think the google-search argument is mentioned anywhere in the guidelines on dab pages. But I do have respect for the opinions of those actually writing the articles. I was just dropping by... So, if you really are concerned about ambiguity here and believe a dab-note is needed, it's fine with me and I won't object or revert if you put it back. Though, I would prefer just a single dab-note, with a link to just the Aetius page to avoid clutter. It should be enough. Shanes 21:47, 17 December 2005 (UTC)
Makes sense. I will do that when I get a chance. --Macrakis 03:49, 18 December 2005 (UTC)

Hi: I am abel to click on the logo for the fund raiser and get the names and $ amounts of each contributor. Is that what Wikipedia wants displayed?--Berndd11222 23:05, 17 December 2005 (UTC)

I believe it only shows names with amounts from those who chose not to donate anonymously. But I'm not the right person to ask about this. [edit] WW 2 Order of Battle and Weapons Production

Hi Shanes:
I have done extensive work on OB and weapons production in WW2, including the German FHO documents in Washington DC. The files are all hand written because the work was done from 1985 to 1994. My work on WW2 casualties could be expanded to include an annual " Military Balance" from 1938 to 1945. In in format similar to the ISS annual report we could summarize the military and economic data for each of the major combatants. For example in Jan. 1943 what were the military forces of Nation X, where were they deployed. What weapons were produced and how many were lost in the prior year. What were force levels and how many casualties were sustained. If you have any ideas on future projects in this area please drop me a line--Berndd11222 22:01, 20 December 2005 (UTC)

I do not know what you are talking about. Are there a lawsuit for every word you write on this page ? If you have any questions of course you can ask them, but that does not mean that you can delete everyones pages.

[edit] Another message!

It is a strange system to me. You cannot demand professors etc go on with speaking to you all the time. This Stoltenberg-article is highly political, and what is written here from my behalf is only common news from newspapers.

[edit] Just the same also here!

This Civil Service for King Harald is only common news in Norway. Nothing is perfect here, like in the rest of the world.

[edit] Higher standard ?

Another mail about higher standard. Yes, what is the standard ? It is not so easy composer you have in this site really. Most things can be of higher standard, but most article are left at a certain level that is considered to be well enough for the special purpose. [edit] Hello! I end this game of yours!

I do not like this procedure about deletation. You cannot even delete your own pages yourself. Something illegal is going on here according to my legal practice. Thus I have claimed all data (pages, pictures etc) deleted in my own box for data. This has turned out to be a game about harassment etc about personal data etc. This is not funny at all. Who can go on like this with other persons data. According to another site I know it is not legal to publish data about persons at all. Only persons that have been dead more than 100 years you are allowed to publish data about. And permissions lack all the time. No permission is given at all. And then, the site refuses you to delete your own personal data. This is illegal according to my view.
