[edit] Supplement to the Callas article
FYI, I have just written article on John Ardoin, the important critic and author who kept appearing in red on the Callas article.
Along with several other speakers, I heard him give a facinating day-long presenation in Philadelphia in 1987 on the 10th anniv. of Callas' death.

[edit] Callas Article
I think you've done a great job on the article, and she certainly deserves a good one. I've been working myself on many opera names such as Callas (of course), Mario Lanza, Erna Sack, Giuseppe Di Stefano, Hermann Prey, Kathryn Grayson, Grace Moore & many more. Thanks for the message.

[edit] New Callas Picture
I put a new infobox and picture on the article and was wondering what you thought of the new picture? NewYork1956 23:47, 26 January 2007 (UTC)
The article is certainly much better than any other opera singer's. I agree with you that there should be another photo at the front, but I hate that other photo that was there before. It makes her look unattractive in the even though she was an attractive woman as her face looks greasy and her hair's a mess. I've always loved the picture I replaced it with, but you're right that it's no good for the infobox picture. I'll take a look and see if I can find something else and I'll let you know if I post it. Also I've noticed that when you change things you don't leave an edit summary. While this is not required, I suggest you do it otherwise some fool may come along and revise it the way it was before without even seeing what the change was just because there's no edit summary. NewYork1956 00:14, 27 January 2007 (UTC)
Oh - Also I didn't even realise it was in lower in the article so it's got to go then.
-
-
- I've already replaced that photo until a better one can be found. I've also given new licences to the pictures writen about above that were deleted in the Callas article that you can re-add if you please. I found a few good photos that you might want to put in the article that I'll post below. The Violetta one may even be good for the infobox picture.

- Do you think the Violetta one will be good for the infobox? I don't know where to put the other one, I think you'd know better than me.

- I was looking for a good Medea one and I think an appropriate one would be great for the front photo.

- That won't be neccisary because it was originaly a promo photo before it was on the biography, and that's what I put it as.

[edit] Callas recordings section
I want to thank you for all your patient work on the Callas article. Your efforts really show care and consideration, and I think it's a much better article than it was a while ago. But with regards to your last edit, adding the Ardoin ref to the bit about the 1954 Tosca ("this is a brilliant recording... it is surely overshadowed...") doesn't solve the problem, which is that the article is offering a subjective opinion about the piece. Robert K S 16:15, 28 January 2007 (UTC)
- I'll leave it up to you how best to attribute and cite. It sounds like we agree that that sentence could use improvement. You've done a wonderful job of improving other such sections in the article. Robert K S 16:38, 28 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Take a look at this article for me please
Hey friend! I just spent hours doing a major cleanup on the article for the late Enlish soprano Florence Easton. I don't know if you've even heard of her, but I know you're good with the Callas article so could you take a look at the article and tell me what you think about it and what it might be missing? Thanks a alot. NewYork1956 05:20, 1 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Tebaldi
I agree. Even though I honestly can't stand her singing (to me she sounds like a screatching freight train), her article needs a cleanup, she deserves that much. I did add an infobox on her article like I have on many others, but that's about it. I only cleaned up Florence Easton's because you should have seen how bad it was before I touched it. It didn't even have 1 internal link! Now I think it looks great. NewYork1956 09:24, 1 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Easton
Yes I like the article as well. I think the person who started it just copied and pasted it straight from the website. Luckily they left the link at the bottom so I could use it as a reference. Doing a search on her for pictures I noticed a Canadian government website about her that provided 3 of those nice pictures I used in the article. It took me forever to cleanup the damn article though, I think I started it at about 2PM yesterday (or even earlier) and didn't finish until well after 5PM, even though I took breaks. It was worth it though. NewYork1956 09:35, 1 February 2007 (UTC)
