Shay Doron

Shay Doron (born Ramat Aviv, Israel) is a point guard for the Maryland women's basketball team. She played a key role in the Maryland Terrapins' 2006 victory over Duke in the 2006 NCAA championship game. She excels at three-point shooting, free throw shooting, assists, and team leadership.
Doron was named to the All-ACC third team in 2004, the All-ACC first team in 2005, and to the All-ACC second team and ACC All-Academic team in 2006. She was also named to the U.S. National Jewish Sports Hall of Fame in 2006.
Doron spent her childhood in Israel, then moved to New York, where she was an acclaimed basketball player for Christ the King High School. She now claims both Ramat Hasharon, Israel and Great Neck, New York as her hometowns. During the summer of 2005, she played for Israel's under-20 women's national team, which won the Division B European Championship.
The University of Maryland lists Doron as 5'9" tall. She is majoring in criminal justice. Doron has expressed interest in playing in the WNBA after her graduation from college.
