[edit] Background

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

Shawn was born December 12, 1983, and disappeared April 22, 2001, at age 17, from Highland Beach near Seattle, Washington, where he was with his cousin Kyle Baldwin. Shawn was not intended to be a 4400; as Kyle and Shawn were drinking at the beach, Shawn witnessed Kyle in the act of being abducted, and in an effort to help him, interrupted the process and was taken instead.

After his return, he began a relationship with Nikki Hudson, his brother Danny's girlfriend. After almost killing Danny in an ensuing fight, Shawn ran away to The 4400 Center. Shawn's healing ability made him very valuable to Jordan Collier and his 4400 Center. Aside from bringing in clients that were willing to "donate" large sums of money in return for Shawn's healing of otherwise incurable diseases, Jordan himself frequently needed to be healed after suffering serious damage from the unborn Isabelle Tyler. After Jordan is assassinated, Shawn took over the leadership of the 4400 Center. Unprepared and unable to run the Center by himself, Shawn received help and guidance from other staff members at the Center, mainly Matthew Ross and Richard Tyler.

He later secretly funded the Nova Group, a radical defensive group of 4400s. When he realized that Nova was willing to kill for their goals, Shawn cut ties with them and even helped his uncle Tom Baldwin and Diana Skouris capture a Nova member. When he revealed to Richard Tyler and the board what he'd done, he agreed to share power with Richard.

He entered into a relationship with Isabelle, and tried to break it off when he realized how dangerous Isabelle was, but she would not allow it, making wedding plans instead. Collier returned from the dead on Shawn and Isabelle's wedding day, causing the weddings cancellation. Shawn and Isabelle broke up, and Shawn turned leadership of the 4400 Center back over to Collier.

He is currently hospitalized after being attacked by Isabelle, at Haspel Corporation's request. Shawn's comatose state now mirrors his cousin's when the series first began.

[edit] Abilities

Shawn possesses the ability of manipulating biology. This is primarily exhibited through healing; however, he also possesses the ability to drain a person's life force.[1]
