Shawn Brady

Shawn Brady is a fictional character on the American soap opera Days of our Lives and the patriarch of the Brady family. He has been played by Lew Brown (1984 to 1985), Frank MacLean (1989 to 1990) and Frank Parker (1983 to 1984, 1985 to 1989, 1990 to present).

Shawn is the husband of Caroline Brady, and father of three of her four children -- Roman Brady, Kimberly Brady and Kayla Brady. In the 1980s, Shawn was shocked to learn that Greek tycoon Victor Kiriakis was the father of Caroline's youngest child, Bo, the by-product of an affair that Caroline had with Victor years earlier.

Over the years, Shawn has kept himself busy in a number of ways. Originally the owner of the Brady Fish Market, after their business was destroyed and Shawn suffered a massive heart attack, he and Caroline re-opened the Fish Market as the Brady Pub, often employing many of their family and friends. Over the years the pub has functioned as a second home for some of their grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and their first great-grandson, Will, spend a great deal of time there while he was growing up.

The Bradys have had a long-standing feud with the DiMeras, but Shawn has never spoken about the reasons behind the feud.

Shawn has been married to Caroline Brady since he first appeared on-air in 1983. The grandson of Patrick Aloysius and Nora Molly Brady, Shawn has a brother Eric and a sister named Molly. Shawn was devastated when he learned that his brother Eric had molested his daughter Kimberly when she was a child, which resulted in Kim later developing disassociative identity disorder. Molly married a man with the surname Murphy and had one known child, Colin, who turned out to be working for the DiMeras.

Through his son Roman, Shawn has grandchildren Carrie, Sami, Eric, Rex and Cassie Brady. He also has one great-grandchild, Will, through Sami. Through his daughter Kim, Shawn has grandchildren Jeannie and Andrew Donovan IV. Through his daughter Kayla, Shawn has a granddaughter Stephanie.

Although not his son biologically, Shawn still considers Bo his child, and loves Bo's children (Shawn-Douglas, Chelsea, Zack and Ciara) as much as any of his other grandchildren.

Shawn and Caroline also have a spot in their hearts for John Black, whom they once believed to be their son Roman until the real Roman returned to town.
