The Shaw Report was a British report of a Commission of Inquiry, chaired by Sir Walter Shaw, into the Western Wall riots of Palestine in 1929.

The aim of the report was to look into the reasons for the violence that occurred during the 1929 Hebron massacre.

[edit] Conclusions

Published in March, 1930, the main source of tension within the mandate was the creation of a landless class of discontented Arabs and the widespread Arab fear that continued Jewish immigration would result in a Jewish-dominated Palestine.

[edit] Recommendations

  1. that British obligations to the Arab community should be more precisely defined,
  2. that Jewish immigration should be brought directly under British control, and
  3. that the practice of evicting Arab tenants following land transfers should cease.
