Shaw is a locality and electoral ward of the civil parish of Shaw and Crompton, in the Metropolitan Borough of Oldham, Greater Manchester, England.

It is located about 10 miles north east of the city of Manchester, and has a population of 10,655 (2001 census).

Shaw was originally a central sub-district of the township of Crompton and in 1835 was noted as a small chapelry, which over time, grew to become its most significant suburb, particularly for industry and commerce. The Church of England had established a parish there with its own Shaw Parish chapel and it was also the name accepted for general use by the postal service when the Post Office was built in the vicinity of the village. Without wanting to drop its "Crompton" name and heritage, the full name became Shaw and Crompton which is the official government name for the entire civil parish and this is reflected by the border sign posts. However, "Shaw" has generally become the colloquial singular name for an area that was originally only referred to as "Crompton".

The ward of Shaw is currently represented in the Oldham Metropolitan Borough Council by the Liberal Democrats.

The church known as Shaw Church, is correctly called The Most Holy Trinity, parish of Crompton vel Shaw, and is in the O.M.B.C. ward of Crompton
