Shaunaka Rishi Das

Shaunaka Rishi Dasa is the Director for the Oxford Centre for Hindu Studies.

In 1997, Shaunaka, with support from senior Oxford scholars,founded the Oxford Centre for Hindu Studies. The Centre is committed to the study of Hindu culture, religion, languages and literature, philosophy, history and society in all periods and in all parts of the world. In 2006 the Centre became a Recognised Independent Centre of Oxford University and strives to maintain the highest standards of academic integrity, originality, and excellence.

Shaunaka is personally committed to inter-religious and theological dialogue and is an executive member of the Northern Ireland Interfaith Forum, based in Belfast. He is also a broadcaster and lecturer.

Shaunaka has practiced as a Vaishnava Priest since 1982 and has been a member of ISKCON since 1979. He presently serves as an executive member of ISKCON's Communications and Education Ministries, and is the editor of the ISKCON Studies Journal, a scholarly journal of dialogue and discussion. Shaunaka is married to Keshava Devi.
