Shatsk (Russian: Шацк) is a town in Ryazan Oblast, Russia, located on the Shacha River (Tsna's tributary) some 195 km southeast of Ryazan. Population: 7,300 (2005 est.); 7,563 (2002 Census).
Shatsk was founded in 1553 as a military outpost for defending the southern borders of the principality of Muscovy. It was chartered by Catherine the Great in 1779.
