Shashikala

Shashikala is an Indian actress who has appeared in Bollywood movies since the 40`s. She started her career as a child actress and became famous for making supporting roles in almost all of her films. Some of the films where she appeared were big hits, such as Phool Aur Patthar, Anupama, Waqt, Khubsoorat and more. Nowadays, she is known for her roles as a grandmother in films such as Baadshah, Sujata, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi and Chori Chori.

  • The Bollywood playback singer Asha Bhosle frequently sang for her. Some of their biggest hits together include Sheeshe Se Pee and Bheegi Bheegi Faza.
  • Her female costars include some of the biggest actresses in the Indian industry, including Meena Kumari, Nutan, Sharmila Tagore, Mala Sinha and Waheeda Rehman.
  • She has appeared in over 100 films in her career.
  • While her female costars were always the typical modest Indian women, she has frequently played the modern, western and bubbly girl.
  • She received the maximum nominations for Best Supporting actress at the Filmfare - eight.
