Sharpies were suburban youth gangs that existed in Melbourne, Australia in the 1960s and '70s. Famous for looking 'sharp', they were renowned for their appearance and collective sense of style. Amongst other apparel, they distictively wore Lee's or Levi jeans, combined with sweaters and t-shirts often designed by individual members. Sharpies would try to out-do fellow sharpies by creating the best pattens, colors and detail. Sharpies were renowned for being violent, although a strict sense of morals was also very evident.
