"Shark Survivor" is the first ever show aired from the Discovery Channel's I Shouldn't Be Alive. When sailing from Maine to Florida, a luxury yacht with five crew members sinks in a tropical storm. While all five of the individuals manage to get onto the dinghy, they find themselves in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean without food, water or even an idea of where exactly they are; though matters turn worse when a group of sharks start to follow them and their conditions deteriorate with time.
The skipper and a crew member, who suffer from dehydration, become so desperate for water that they start drinking seawater. Later, both of them become delirious; the skipper jumps off the boat and swims into the distance because he thinks he sees land. The other crew members later hear a distant scream, and he is assumed to have been eaten by the sharks. A day or less later, the other crew member who drank seawater holds on to the boat as he jumps off. He thinks he is going to the corner store to buy cigarettes and to stretch his legs, but he is soon eaten by sharks that subsequently attempt to turn over the dinghy. A young women, Meg, is also on the boat with Brad Cavanagh and Deborah Scaling Kiley. Her leg was severely lacerated while evacuating the yacht, and it becomes so infected that she also becomes delirious. She begins to talk with her hands, lashes out at Brad and, less than a day after, she dies. The two remaining members, Brad and Deborah, have their own little funeral for Meg, take off all her clothes and accessories to give to her family, and push her off-board. Later that day or next day, they encounter a Russian freight ship and are rescued. Today, the two survivors are still good friends and continue to take trips on boats.
