A Share Auto is an alternative means of public transportation in many places of India. These three- or four-wheeled vehicles are Diesel or LPG or CNG fuelled and are of different sizes and shapes. They normally run on routes like the city buses, but charge a bit more. Usually they are designed to accommodate up to four persons, but they carry up to eight passengers at a time. Although Share Autos are also known as Meter Taxis, they don't have meters and are not taxis.
