Shards of Ice

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Shards Of Ice is a metal/rock band based in Manila, Philippines. Angelo Garcia and Dean Rosen started the band in 2004. Within the same year they recruited Lex Adarme to be their drummer and Griff Chatwin to be an additional rhythm guitarist. Shards Of Ice is greatly influenced by old school metal. Metallica has always been one of their favourite bands.

Their debut album, entitled The Monkeys Have Landed, was released in late 2004. It was recorded when the band members were between 13-15.

In July 2005, Angelo moved to Cairo, Egypt. So for the past 2 years, Shards Of Ice remained a three piece band, promoting Griff to be their lead guitarist. In November 2004, they were featured in PULP magazine; and in February 2005, the band won first place in LSGH's "Overdose" Battle Of The Bands competition,in which they were the youngest band and the only three-piece. Later on in April, they played in the PULP Summer Slam, which celebrates the top 35 bands in the country of that year; and in June, the Fete De La Musique, a world wide festival of music from different countries; this event gave them their first television spot in both the Philippines and France. They were also featured in The National Inquirer newspaper, featured here: http://you.inq7.net/music/index.htm

Griff has since moved to Sweden, and only Dean and Lex remain in Manila, where they perform with a replacement guitarist. Currently, they are working on their second album release, and communicate with Griff for their recordings.
