Shannon Brown (musician)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Shannon Brown is a country music singer. She grew up in Iowa. She quickly graduated from the hairbrush-microphone stage and by her late teens, she was taking the stage at the family club. Although she could sing anything, her tastes and her show were rooted firmly in country music. Her delivery was infused with a soulfulness born of hours listening to Aretha Franklin and Ray Charles.
After several years of touring the Midwest with her father running the soundboard and her mom running lights, Shannon decided to make the move to Music City USA. She paid the bills singing songwriters' demo sessions and managed to maintain her touring schedule of 160 dates a year. Her vocal stylings and industrious approach did not go unnoticed.
Her new record is a powerful statement that has provided her with the opportunity to record songs that reflect who she is. With producer and label-mate John Rich, she has created a collection of songs that is more about a return to her All-American roots than fulfilling a corporate image. She co-wrote most of the songs on the album, including the first single "Corn Fed."
Shannon appeared at Farm Aid 2005 with the likes of Willie Nelson, John Mellencamp, Neil Young, Dave Matthews, Buddy Guy, John Mayer, Kenny Chesney and more!
Shannon married music video director Shaun Silva on April 13, 2002.
Shannon was signed to Arista Nashville for her first record contract in 1997. Her debut radio single, "I Won't Lie" was released in late 1998 but flopped. Her debut album, "A Tour of My Heart", was never released commercially but was to have included her version of the Leo Sayer song, "When I Need You", "Maybe", the title track, and "I Won't Lie." Shannon had a song titled "Half A Man" which was released on a motion picture soundtrack.
Subsequently, Shannon was transferred to BNA Nashville records. In late 2001, she released her first radio single for BNA called, "Baby, I Lied." This was a remake of a Deborah Allen song, which was a hit in the 1980s for Allen.
Shannon released the second BNA single to radio called, "Untangle My Heart." Both singles released on BNA were radio flops. Commercial singles were never released for any of Shannon's Arista or BNA radio singles. Her BNA album was never released.
Currently, Shannon is on her third record deal.
