Shanghai Metro, Line 5 - Xinmin Line

Line 5 was opened in 2003, making it the second youngest metro line in Shanghai so far, and it is also the only metro line that is only connected to one other line. The location makes this line an extension of Line 1, but it is being run by another company. It is also the only light railway in Shanghai now.(Other 4 lines are all subway though they may have some part not underground.)

This line connects the southern most station of Line 1, Xinzhuang with the Minhang Development Zone at the other end of Line 5. Minhang is a satellite city of Shanghai.
