Shanghai Metro, Line 4 - Circle Line (though currently in a "C" shape)

Line 4 will form a circle metro through the city, sharing the part from Baoshan Road to Hongqiao Road with the current Line 3. The circle will follow the inner-ringway for most of the route, which causes the ring to extend to Pudong across the Huangpu River.

[edit] Construction problems

During construction of Line 4 part of tunnel that was under construction close to the Huangpu river collapsed. This caused a six story building to collapse and several other buildings in the neighborhood had to be evacuated. No casualties have been reported, but the incident caused the completion of the metroline to be delayed with almost a year. Now the part which had problem is not used. It is from east of Lancun Road and to west of Damuqiao Road.
