"Shame" is a pop song written by Christian Ballard, Tim Hawes, Pete Kirtley, and Andrew Murray for Monrose's debut studio album Temptation (2006). It was co-produced by production teams Jiant, and Snowflakers, and received a positive reception from music critics. The song was released as the album's lead single on December 1, 2006 (see 2006 in music), and peaked at number one in Austria, Germany, Luxembourg, and Switzerland. "Shame" eventually emerged as the fastest selling song of 2006 and the most downloaded single since 2004 domestically.

The video for the single was directed by Oliver Sommer and shot in the week of October 30, 2006 and premiered on November 24 in the daily gossip television magazine taff.

[edit] Song information

A solo version of "Shame", performed by Bahar Kızıl, premiered on November 16, 2006 on the second last episode of the Popstars series. Even though the song was not advertised as the final group's first single at this point, Amazon.de accidentally released a CD cover - which showed three of the six remaining finalists (Katarzyna Zinkiewicz, Mandy Capristo and Bahar Kızıl) - the day after. While the accident raised concern about the significance of the final band voting, the cover soon was replaced by promotional artwork and ProSieben quickly released a statement which confirmed both the single's title and the band name Monrose but also rejected reproaches of fraud.

However, on November 23 the final version of "Shame" was presented live on the season's finale, and by November 30, 2006 the entire track had leaked onto the internet.
