Shallow Jr.High

Edward B. Shallow Junior H.S. is an intermediate school located in Brooklyn, New York.
The School is located at 16th avenue and 65th street in the Bensonhurst section of the borough. Shallow has a variety of guest programs, including actors, artists, government officials and others. Brenda Champion is currently Shallow's principal, she started as principal in 2005, Replacing Roberto Benitez. Shallow is named after the late Edward B. Shallow, a former NYC Board of Education Associate Superintendent. The building has 4 floors. Shallow can be identified as I.S. 227 (intermediate school 227) as well as Shallow, Shallow Jr. high and Jr. high 227. The school is currently undergoing renovations and repairs as are some other NYC public schools.
Shallow is divided into 3 mini-schools: Renaissance, Environmental, and American Experience. Each "mini-school" has its own dean and vice principal. Shallow is one of NYC schools labeled as "in need of improvement". Shallow has issued a notice informing students of "random metal detector sweeps", subjecting students to metal detector sweeps at random times and confiscating cell phones and as a means of discovering weapons being brought into the school.
The metal detector sweeps are currently being debated by NYC officials.
