We understand that Singapore has a very competitive schooling environment, and that students, teachers and principals alike have a strong desire to promote their views via contributions to their respective school articles. In some cases, they are also particularly sensitive to the content that appear in these articles. Singapore school articles are currently in a very poor state, and we seriously need your co-operation in helping to improve its quality.

Here are some ways in which you can help us:

  • Don't copy and paste anything from websites to articles. This includes photographs and images, unless it is created/taken by yourself. Firstly, it is a copyright violation, which will be quickly deleted. Secondly, even if permission is given for the material to be posted, it will need to be reorganised and wikified accordingly.
  • Write in a neutral tone. Avoid writing anything nasty about the school without proper sources that we can verify properly, it will be deleted on sight. (See CHIJ v. SPH) Forget about bragging *all* your school achievements away as well, they are frown upon by regular editors - If the whole school article gets nominated for deletion as advertising, SGpedians cannot save your article. Don't use condescending language either, it is unencyclopedic and degrades the quality of the school articles.
  • Don't post excessive "cruft" about your school. Some bits about school culture is fine, but don't go overboard. (e.g. Standalone CCA/Band articles have been deleted outright) They will be removed.

We hope that you will enjoy your stay on Wikipedia. If you are interested about other Singapore-related articles, feel free to check out the SGpedians noticeboard. - Mailer Diablo
