If your original version hadn't been such a piece of shyte I would have been happy to leave it alone. It's better now. Babajobu 17:38, 23 July 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Bollix
Thanks for your message on my talk page. I took your advice and looked up "Bollix" using Google. Here's what I found [1] says it means testicles. [2] says its "The Irish pronunciation of 'bollocks'". [3] again has "testicles". [4] says its an alternative spelling of "bollocks". Not one mention of your suggested definition that I could find. Anyway, thanks for helping me confirm this is likely not true. Gwernol 12:53, 5 April 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for the reply. I've listed Bollix as an Article for deletion. This means the Wikipedia community has the opportunity to discuss the merits of this article and can reach a consensus on whether the article should be deleted or kept. Another possibility is it would be redirected to the existing Bollocks article or merged there. Please add your opinion to the discussion: Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Bollix. By the way, you seem to be under the impression that I have some authority here - I don't I'm just a regular editor like you. You also seem to think this is somehow an "ego trip" for me - I'm not sure what gave you that impression. If Bollix is really a different term with different meaning than Bollocks then I'd love to see Wikipedia cover it. But you'll need some level of verifiable evidence to show this is the case. I encourage you to provide that, in which case I'd happily change my opinion and support this article. Best, Gwernol 13:12, 5 April 2006 (UTC)
Good! Just be aware that sometimes things are not what they seem and the meaning of words changes all the time. In Ireland bollix means male genitalia and is a singular plural. The origins of the word may be from the term bollocks but it has evolved in Ireland for good or for bad and has a distinctly different meaning to the original there now therefore I believe it warrants its own page. The ironic thing is even some Irish people have forgotten the Irish meaning of the word because of the exposure of British culture. Hence we have our current problem where most people associate the two as the same when in fact they are fairly unique. It's the same thing which has occurred with the term Ulster. Everybody in Briain and the rest of the English speaking world seem to think that Northern Ireland is Ulster when in fact Northern Ireland is just six of the nine counties that make up Ulster. But things like that get easily forgotten when one culture is more dominant than another in our modern multimedia world.
