[edit] License tagging for Image:Terlingua1.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Terlingua1.jpg. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 07:09, 1 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Images

Hi, just wanted to say those are nice images you've added to Copper River and Northwestern Railway, Kennecott, Alaska, and Dalton Highway today, but images as big as those first two really ought to be thumbnailed, so people don't have to load the entire thing if they don't want to. You might want to read Help:Images and Wikipedia:Extended image syntax to see the different things you can do with images in articles. Welcome to Wikipedia, since nobody's said it yet, and happy editing! —Zero Gravitas 07:19, 1 June 2006 (UTC)

The basics if you don't want to read all of those pages: the easiest way to thumbnail is just to stick |thumb after the image name, so

becomes

If you want to specify the size of the thumbnail, you can tack that on the end too:

makes a 250-pixel-wide thumbnail. Captions are added the same way:

The syntax can be a bit finicky at times but it's pretty easy with practice. —Zero Gravitas 07:25, 1 June 2006 (UTC)
