"Severed Hand" is a song by Pearl Jam. It appears as the fourth track of their self-titled eighth studio album. It was written by lead singer Eddie Vedder on the same night that he wrote the song "I Am Mine".[1] The song was premiered live on Saturday Night Live in April 2006.
The main riff bears a striking resemblance to "Porch" from their debut album Ten, and the chorus is reminiscent of "Insignificance", from their album Binaural.
This song was an album track pick at All Music Guide, along with "Life Wasted", "World Wide Suicide", and "Inside Job".

It has been said by Vedder that the song is about purchasing and consuming LSD, which can be seen in such lyrics as "You'll see dragons after three or four!"
