Seven sisters (studios)

The seven sisters of the Hollywood film industry were the original major movie studios:

  1. Columbia Pictures Corporation (now Columbia Pictures Industries, Inc.) -- now part of the Sony Pictures Entertainment, part of Sony conglomerate;
  2. Walt Disney Productions, Inc. -- now The Walt Disney Company, Inc.
  3. 20th Century-Fox Film Corporation (now 20th Century Fox Film Corporation) -- part of the News Corporation conglomerate
  4. Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer -- owned jointly by Sony and Comcast
  5. Paramount Pictures -- now part of the Viacom conglomerate
  6. Universal Pictures -- now part of Universal Studios, part of the NBC Universal conglomerate
  7. Warner Bros. Pictures -- now part of Warner Bros. Entertainment, part of the Time Warner conglomerate
