The seven sisters of the Hollywood film industry were the original major movie studios:
- Columbia Pictures Corporation (now Columbia Pictures Industries, Inc.) -- now part of the Sony Pictures Entertainment, part of Sony conglomerate;
- Walt Disney Productions, Inc. -- now The Walt Disney Company, Inc.
- 20th Century-Fox Film Corporation (now 20th Century Fox Film Corporation) -- part of the News Corporation conglomerate
- Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer -- owned jointly by Sony and Comcast
- Paramount Pictures -- now part of the Viacom conglomerate
- Universal Pictures -- now part of Universal Studios, part of the NBC Universal conglomerate
- Warner Bros. Pictures -- now part of Warner Bros. Entertainment, part of the Time Warner conglomerate
