Seven Parthian clans
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Seven Parthian clans, or just the Seven clans (in Persian "Haft Khandan"), were seven different Parthian clans who constituted the Dahae Confederation. Following the rise to power of the Parthians, these seven clans shared the administration of the Parthian Empire, each governing a region of the empire. One of the more prominent clans was the Suren clan, to which Eran Spahbod Surena belonged.
After dissolution of Parthian dynasty, some of the dominant Parthian clans from Seven Parthian clans remained important, although the empire was dominated by Persian noble families. Bahram Chobin, the famous Eran spahbod under Sassanid king Khosrau II, was from Mihran Clan.
