Seven Hills of Rome was tenor Mario Lanza's penultimate film. Filmed entirely on location in Rome in 1957, the movie tells the story of singer Marc Revere, an American of Italian heritage who travels to Italy in search of his fiancée, Carol. Among the selections that Lanza sings is "Arrivederci, Roma" — performed in the Piazza Navona with a young street urchin — and "Questa o Quella" from Rigoletto. Lanza also performs imitations of the singers Perry Como, Frankie Laine, Dean Martin, and Louis Armstrong. The film was directed by Roy Rowlands and co-starred Renato Rascel, Marisa Allasio and Peggie Castle. Its Italian title was Arrivederci, Roma.
