[edit] Mission

[edit] Mission Statement

The personal growth of each student as an individual and as a member of the Christian community is not the primary concern at Seton-La Salle High School. Through faithful teaching of the Gospel, active participation in worship, dedicated instruction in the academic disciplines, and the generous sharing of time and talent, Seton-La Salle seeks to nurture and incorporate into its very life the message revealed in Jesus Christ.

[edit] Mission Foundation

Seton-La Salle acknowledges two primary patrons in Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton and Saint John Baptiste de la Salle. These two patrons correlate with the longstanding teaching ministries of the Sisters of Charity of Seton Hill[1], and the Brothers of the Christian Schools[2]. Both religious orders have contributed to the school as teachers and administrators. Today, the mission of the school is also fowarded by many dedicated lay teachers.

[edit] Academics

The required courses at Seton-La Salle include and exceed the state-mandated minimum for general education. Instruction is provided to students on three levels: Honors, Academic, and General. Students schedules are based on their own individual needs. For example, a student who is strong in Math but weak in English can be enrolled in an Honors Math course and a General English course.

The Religion courses carry full credit and are in accordance with the guidelines established by the Diocese of Pittsburgh.

[edit] Electives

Elective courses are provided for personal enrichment. Electives are available in all academic departments. Some of the most popular electives are Accounting, Business Law, Psychology, Sociology, Music Tech, Digital Arts - Video, and Digital Arts - Print.

[edit] AP Courses

Through our "College in High School" dual enrollment program, students have the opportunity to earn college credit while in high school. Seton-La Salle offers the following AP courses: Art History, Biology, Calculus, Chemistry, English, European History, Honors French, Honors Functions, and Honors Spanish.

[edit] Edline

Beginning in the 2006-2007 school year, Seton-La Salle High School uses Edline, a software that enables parents to view current grades in all classes.

[edit] Activities
