Sertanense

Sertanense Futebol Clube (pron. IPA: [sɨɾ.tɐ.'nẽ.sɨ]), formerly Sertanense Foot-ball Club is the largest sports club of Sertã. Its articles of foundation date from 17 February 1934. It was founded by Casimiro Farinha.
Sertanense is nowadays almost exclusively a soccer club. Sertanense was twice Castelo Branco district champion in 1988 and 2000. It now plays in the Portuguese third division. It has played the upper 2nd-B league during one season only. However, during the seventies, it devoted most of its energy to sport fishing, and was even Portuguese champion.
It is currently chaired by Paulo Jorge Costa Farinha, a.k.a. Filhó.
