Serhiy Perkhun

Serhiy (Sergey) Vladimirovich Perkhun (Russian: Серге́й Влади́мирович Перху́н) (September 4, 1977, Dnepropetrovsk, USSR - August 28, 2001, Moscow, Russia) was an Ukrainian football goalkeeper. He was the only player in history of Russian Premier League to die from injuries sustained during the official game.

Sergey Perkhun was born on September 4, 1977 in Dnepropetrovsk. He started playing football at age 7.

He was a goalkeeper for Ukraine national football team.

August 19, 2001 during the game against Anzhi Makhachkala he collided head-to-head with Anzhi forward Budun Budunov who also sustained serious head injury during this episode. At first injury appeared to be minor and Sergey Perkhun was kept in the game until the end. However he went to coma on the way to airport and died nine days later on August 28 from brain hemorrhage.
