Sergio Torres
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Sergio Torres (born July 11, 1981 in Mar Del Plata) is an Argentine professional footballer, currently playing for Wycombe Wanderers in English League Two.
He began his career at Argentine minnows Banfield de Mar del Plata, but after 2 seasons he decided to leave the club in order to become a professional footballer in England. He funded his own trip to England in 2004 with the aim of impressing Brighton and Hove Albion during a two week trial. Although Albion showed no more interest, he signed for non-league Basingstoke Town later that year.
In July 2005 Basingstoke Town played a pre-season friendly match against Wycombe Wanderers, during which Sergio impressed then manager John Gorman and was offered a two year contract.
Sergio made his debut for Wycombe Wanderers a few weeks into the 2005/2006 season and scored his first goal for the club in the 2-0 victory over Notts County in January 2006.
