Serghei Covalciuc

Serghei Covalciuc (Russian: Сергей Ковальчук, Sergey Kovalchuk) born January 20, 1982) is a Moldovan-Russian football (soccer) utility midfielder. A regular in the Moldovan senior squad, he currently plays for Spartak Moscow in the Russian Premier League. Previously he played for Tiligul Tiraspol in the break-away republic of Transnistria, having joined from in the 1999 pre-season.

A Tiraspol native, Serghei Covalciuc previously had Moldovan and Transnistrian citizenships, but in 2007 he renounced them to receive Russian citizenship and be able to play more often for Spartak.[1]
