Serbian enclave in Orahovac

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Serbian enclave in Orahovac (Kosovo) is an enclave in the southeastern part of Kosovo province. 470 Serbs (as of 2005) and non-Albanians, mostly Roma people, live in this enclave. These people are free to move within an area 500 meters in diameter, with only four streets in the city guarded for them. Employment is limited to education and a few other social services like healthcare. Twice a week, transportation is organized to Kosovska Mitrovica, and twice a month to Gračanica. During the Kosovo war, 75 ethnic Serbs from Orahovac were kidnapped. Their whereabouts are still unknown.
