[edit] History
After Montenegro became an independent state on the 21st May 2006 (from Serbia and Montenegro), Serbia will take part in the Eurovision Song Contest alone from now on. The country will make it's solo debut in the 2007 contest.
In 2004 and 2005 Serbia entered the song contest in the loose union Serbia and Montenegro. Their first entrant Željko Joksimović, who was from Serbia and reached the 2nd position, in 2006 the country had to withdraw because the two countries couldn't agree about which candidate should represent Serbia and Montenegro.
