SergioMendesOlympia1.jpg (450 × 339 pixel, file size: 76 KB, MIME type: image/jpeg)
This image is a screenshot from a copyrighted music video or promotional video for a music artist, and the copyright for it is most likely owned by the producers of the video and possibly also by the music artist. It is believed that the use of a limited number of web-resolution screenshots
- for identification and critical commentary on the music video in question
- on the English-language Wikipedia, hosted on servers in the United States by the non-profit Wikimedia Foundation,
qualifies as fair use under United States copyright law. Any other uses of this image, on Wikipedia or elsewhere, may be copyright infringement. See Wikipedia:Fair use.
To the uploader: please add a detailed fair use rationale for each use, as described on Wikipedia:Image description page, as well as the source of the work and copyright information.
Frame from an early point of MTV's videoclip for the 1984 song "Olympia" from Sergio Mendes.

The clip has since been removed; the copyrights seem to currently be with Viacom.
[edit] Fair use in Sérgio Mendes
Though this image is subject to copyright, I feel its use is covered by the U.S. fair use laws because:
- It is a sole low resolution frame of a music video more than three minutes long.
- It does not limit the copyright owner's rights to sell DVDs, CD-ROMs or other media related to the song and/or video in any way.
- Copies could not be used to make illegal copies of either the song or the video.
- The frame chosen duly credits both the album, the song, the artist and the original broadcaster of the video.
- The frame is significant because it illustrates an important contribution of the artist to a world-level event (the 1984 Summer Olympics).
[edit] Fair use in Olympia (song)
Though this image is subject to copyright, I feel its use is covered by the U.S. fair use laws because:
- It is a sole, low resolution frame of a music video more than three minutes long.
- It does not limit the copyright owner's rights to sell DVDs, CD-ROMs or other media related to the song and/or video in any way.
- The frame is thematically significant and brings attemption to any commercial products that may exist or be released in connection to it.
- At the same time, due to technical limitations, this sole frame may not reasonably be used to make or even to significantly contribute to making illegal copies of either the song or the video.
- The frame chosen duly credits both the album, the song, the artist and the original broadcaster of the video.
