Image talk:Seppuku.jpg

Note that this scene is from a theater play, not a real seppuku.--Extrahitz 08:36, 10 December 2005 (UTC)

Can you explain why? Jpatokal 02:58, 12 December 2005 (UTC)

I assert it in following reasons.

  • Everyone's position is so close to each other. Mitodokenin(見届人, inspector) shall be splashed with blood, or even might be hit by Katana. That does not happen in formal seppuku.
  • Mitodokenin sits on a shogi(床机, folding chair), but shogi usually cannot be used on Tatami(畳). If he use shogi like this picture, it should be very rude to the seppukunin(切腹人), who was allowed to make seppuku in a room. (Usually, seppuku is made outdoor. And in that case, Mitodokenin sits on a shogi.)
  • Seppukunin must take off his cloth from his waist.
  • Everyone seems to makeup his face with costmetic powder. Samurai do not makeup. This suggests the picture is from a theater play.
  • Seppuku was a very solenm ceremony. It was unthinkable to permit taking a picture of it.--Extrahitz 05:01, 12 December 2005 (UTC)
