[edit] Welcome to the Wikipedia
Welcome, newcomer!
Here are some useful tips to ease you into the Wikipedia experience:
- First, take a look at the Wikipedia Tutorial, and perhaps dabble a bit in the test area.
- When you have some free time, take a look at the Manual of Style and Policies and Guidelines. They can come in very handy!
- Remember to use a neutral point of view!
- If you need any help, feel free to post a question at the Help Desk
- Explore, be bold in editing pages, and, most importantly, have fun!
Also, here are some odds and ends that I find useful from time to time:
- Wikipedia:Policy Library
- Wikipedia:Utilities
- Wikipedia:Cite your sources
- Wikipedia:Verifiability
- Wikipedia:Wikiquette
- Wikipedia:Civility
- Wikipedia:Conflict resolution
- Wikipedia:Brilliant prose
- Wikipedia:Pages needing attention
- Wikipedia:Peer review
- Wikipedia:Bad jokes and other deleted nonsense
- Wikipedia:Village pump
- Wikipedia:Boilerplate text
Feel free to ask me anything the links and talk pages don't answer. You can most easily reach me by posting on my talk page.
You can sign your name on any page by typing 4 tildes, likes this: ~~~~.
Best of luck, and have fun!

[edit] Wikipedia:SGpedians' notice board
Our very own notice board is up! Do try to look through and contribute. ;)--Huaiwei 09:12, 10 Mar 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Naming convention
Why do you want to have a name called Sengkang? Very funny. Never mind, do have a look at [1].

[edit] Name?
It's my inaugural article! -- Sengkang 13:56, 12 Jun 2005 (UTC)
[edit] DYK
Did you know? has been updated. A fact from the article Jurong Falls, which you recently created, has been featured in that section on the Main Page. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the "Did you know?" talk page. |
[edit] For your User:Sengkang/Gallery...
Oh, and you may consider transferring the collection to Wikimedia Commons, if you wish. :) - Mailer Diablo 19:06, 2 December 2005 (UTC)
- Thanks! Will continue to share more photos of Singapore sights and scenes in my free time. You too have an excellent photo collection. =D Sengkang 16:20, 3 December 2005 (UTC)

- You're welcome. Feel free to display it on your userpage if you like. Greetings! :) - Mailer Diablo 14:07, 9 December 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Another Barnstar
For the excellent photos you have taken of Singapore, I award you with another Photographers Barnstar. Terence Ong |Talk 04:21, 11 December 2005 (UTC)]]
You really deserve another barnstar of the same kind. :P
- Thanks! =D Sengkang 15:23, 12 December 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Yet some more stars
Yet another star award for your photographs and encouragement to keep it up, but this time, they are not merely any barnstar, they are stars from the Pleaides star cluster!
May I also take this time to request some photographs, if I may. Excellent photos of the commercial district - other photographs we need is of Singapore's industry, and maybe some more ministries and some photos of both older Housing Development Board and SIT housing. Anyway, I cannot reiterate how valuable your current photographs are so far, keep up the good work! Natalinasmpf 17:01, 18 December 2005 (UTC)
- Thanks for the stars! =D
Will try to fulfill your request. Sengkang 03:07, 19 December 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Can you change the license?
Hi, for the images created by you, since sept. 2005 or so, the only licenses you can upload self-images on wikipedia are GFDL and other similar licenses. As your image of the Cavenagh bridge is copyrighted, it cannot be used on mainpage for DYK. Can you change the license asap to GFDL so that it can be featured on the mainpage? Thanks, --Gurubrahma 06:55, 22 December 2005 (UTC)
- ok, no problem. Sengkang 16:15, 22 December 2005 (UTC)

- Cool, you can take panaroma photos. You need a special lens right? --Terence Ong Talk 16:04, 23 December 2005 (UTC)

- Nope, just a normal camera and a photo stitching software. Sengkang 16:08, 23 December 2005 (UTC)
[edit] replacement of my images
Uh, some of the images I uploaded as a newbie need to be replaced, as I mistakenly thought they were PD as they were works by government agencies, when in fact, our government isn't so generous. Alas: can you see about taking replacement photos to Image:Dovermrt2.jpg, which needs to be higher resolution anyway, and Image:Chinatown MRT Station street level.jpg? No hurry, just preferred it be solved sometime soon better than later. They don't have to entirely replace them either, just photos of the same vicinity. -- Natalinasmpf 04:53, 25 December 2005 (UTC)
- My image for Chinatown MRT Station is here, Image:Chinatown NEL Station, Entrance, Dec 05.JPG. -- Sengkang 16:42, 28 December 2005 (UTC)

- Oh thanks, that will suit it very well for now. I do have the suggestion of stepping back to make it perfect, as it slightly gives me the sensation of stretching my neck a bit, but in any case it's a very good picture. :-) Nice to have it, thank you again! --Natalinasmpf 03:33, 29 December 2005 (UTC)

- That's the intended effect. =p Nevertheless, the place is too cluttered now, so cannot get a good view of the structure from even slightly afar. -- Sengkang 16:10, 29 December 2005 (UTC)
