Good question - the limited sources I've consulted on him so far have little to say about him after he was exiled from Indonesia in the 1920s, let alone after 1965. My guess would be that he laid low as much as humanly possible after Suharto came along; '65-'71 was a dangerous time to be a former communist party chairman in Indonesia, to say the least. In fact, maybe there's some interesting story about how he escaped being killed in the anti-communist purges - but I don't know. He was a pretty old guy by then, too, of course...
