Selina Chow

Selina Chow Liang Shuk-yee, GBS OBE JP (Traditional Chinese: 周梁淑怡) (b. 25 January 1945, Hong Kong) is a current member of the Executive Council of Hong Kong and the Legislative Council of Hong Kong. She is known for her career in politics as well as her previous career in the broadcasting sector.

An alumna of St. Paul's Co-educational College, Wilkes-Booth College (US) and the University of Hong Kong, Chow is a major contributor in the public domain of Hong Kong. Some of her many public services include: Chairman of the Hong Kong Tourism Board, Board Member of the Hong Kong Airport Authority, Honorary adviser to Against Child Abuse, and Director of the Hong Kong Intellectual Property Society.

  • Chow was employed by all of the television stations in Hong Kong during her career in the broadcasting sector. She was first hired as an episodic drama director for TVB, then she worked as a promotions manager at the ill-fated Commercial Television, and finally worked as the General Manager at ATV.
  • Some blame Chow for the failure of the third terrestrial television station in Hong Kong, Commercial Television, due to her orders to start an intense media campaign to promote the station, which was already ailing at the time.
